ARTIST QUESTIONS
A D2C music platform lets you sell your music straight to your listeners. The three best known for independent musicians work differently, mostly on one point: who pays the fee.
Bandcamp
Bandcamp takes 15% of each digital sale and 10% of each physical sale. The digital share drops to 10% once you pass $5,000 in sales. Payment processing fees, usually 4 to 6%, come on top. It is built for music, with a large catalogue and a long history with independent labels.
EVEN
EVEN takes 20% per sale, payment processing included, with no monthly fee. It focuses on exclusive releases: there is no streaming tier, so only the people who bought a release can play it. It is not a distributor and does not handle merch shipping.
HYK
On HYK you keep 100% of your price. The buyer pays a 10% service fee and the payment fees on top. You can sell music, but also prints, originals, zines, photos and films, set limited editions with a stock, and receive one-off or monthly support from your community. On HYK, Nikkfurie's Pack Collector for "Ghost Company 2", limited to 10, sold out.
How to choose
If you want a large music catalogue and a known storefront, Bandcamp. If your plan is exclusive releases only, EVEN. If you want to keep your whole price, sell more than music and gather support from your community on one page, HYK. Many artists use more than one.
Next step: Create your page on HYK at app.hyk.media. Then read the Pricing and First Sale guides.
